Making Decisions

After deciding on a layout, I was able to go ahead and create information architecture for us. Again, we wanted to make a simple and effective layout of information so that a Mom could work on her projects during her kids' naps or simply for 5 minutes between dropping one kid off at soccer and picking another one up from dance. We didn't want to have a huge navigation so we decided to have a small one at the top to switch between projects and then the rest of the features would simply be buttons to be accessed in the same places throughout all pages. 

Once we got our structure down, we were able to solidify a logo. Here are some of our Do's and Don'ts.

We decided to go with a more unbiased color scheme, not wanting the app to be boy or girl specific. We wanted our templates for the pages of the book to use colors that could be used for a boy or a girl at any age. We decided to go with Myriad Pro for the typeface of our app because of it's simplicity and readability. It comes in many different weights and looks great in all lowercase or all caps. The tracking and kerning of this font may need to be adjusted, especially in the condensed weights.
